As much as mental health is becoming less and less stigmatized over the years (hallelujah!), dealing with emotional difficulties can be isolating and painful. Some of these challenges might include trauma, depression, ADHD, divorce, anxiety disorders, family or childhood difficulties, self-esteem, sexuality concerns, grief, faith transitions, infertility, attachment issues, life transitions, and more. Figuring out where to turn to for support and treatment can feel like a daunting task. Maybe you have well-meaning people in your life that would love to support you, but don’t have the specialized skill set and knowledge to meet your needs. This is where I can help.
I truly believe anyone, at any time could benefit from therapy services. If you’re hoping to carve out some space in the week dedicated to your growth and healing, individual therapy could be a great option for you.
I believe that we, as humans, do not exist in a vacuum. We are comprised of and influenced by our cultures, relationships, and experiences. Although individual therapy will be focused on YOU, we may also discuss many contextual factors as well, such as relationships, spiritual background (if applicable), culture, and yes, although running the risk of sounding like a therapy cliche, perhaps even childhood. :)
My hope is that as you are able to do individual therapeutic work, you will be able to develop a different relationship with yourself. The type of relationship that is healing rather than harming and compassionate rather than critical. Together in therapy, we can help you build and practice new skills and strategies as well as develop new patterns of living your life.
Although I try my best to tailor our sessions specifically to you and your needs, I primarily use the following models:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Attachment-Based Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Compassion-Focused Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills (DBT)
Experiential Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Narrative Therapy
